Product Development Lead
Location: Seattle
As a Product Development Leader, you are responsible to head the whole product development lifecycle of the client, including product design, engineering, testing and launch activities. The product was developed by the client to restore communication for people who have lost their ability to speak. The first product launch will be a communication device for people with ALS (Lou Gherig's disease), a neurological disease that afflicts renown physicist Stephen Hawking. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of the product's technical aspects. You will also plan long term product roadmap for the expansion for different disabilities, enabling millions of people around the world to communicate with their loved ones and contribute to the society again. In this role, you are expected to lead technically, especially in the industrial design, software and hardware of the product.
Qualifications:
* Strong technical leader and motivator. Ability to lead existing team & expand in a start up environment.
* Proven track record of successfully developing & taking a product into market. Experience in biomedical products is a plus.
* Must be able to line up manufacturers and design a low to mid volume production flow efficiently. Understanding design for manufacturing and robust design.
* Minimum 5 years experience in software/hardware or product development leadership.
* Innovative thinker, driven to create a superior technology & product.
* Strong understanding of human factor design.
* Skills to mentor and manage the design and engineering team, including task planning and work reviews.
* Very technologically savvy. Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical capacity to solve existing problems.
* Ability to work with marketing/sales and the executive team to plan and execute product roadmap strategy.
* Excellent project management and communication skills. Strong business acumen.
* Strong knowledge of software and hardware. Engineering degree is strongly preferred.
* Experience with one or more of the following areas is a plus:
o Signal processing o Speech synthesis and recognition
o Intuitive user interface design o Natural language processing
o System modeling and machine learning
* Experience working in a startup environment is preferred
Salary: Salary commensurate with experience
The client’s mission is to create technology that increases human functionality and enhances digital experiences in people's lives. Founded in 2005, they developed a device capable of translating neurological information from the brain into speech. Commercialization of the product will begin with people who need the technology most, followed by expansion into consumer markets. The first product, launching at the end of 2008, is a biomedical communication device for people who have lost the ability to speak due to disease or injury.
